Posted: 5/14/03 Foster signs to play Division I baseballBerk Brown Two years ago, Jason Foster helped pitch the Forest Lake baseball team into the state tournament and a first-round appearance against Joe Mauer and Cretin-Derham Hall. Now, the tall right-hander has pitched his way onto a Division I baseball team. Foster, a 2001 Forest Lake graduate, has signed with the University of Illinois-Chicago. Foster has spent the past two seasons as a pitcher at Waldorf College in Forest City, IA. Mike Dee, the former pitching coach at the University of Minnesota, is the head coach for the Flames, who compete in the Horizon League. Among the assistants on Deeís staff are former Minnesota Twin Scott Stahoviak and former Golden Gopher Mike Dee. Illinois-Chicago is the defending Horizon League champion and currently has a record of 33-14 overall and 13-4 in the conference. |
