Posted: 5/14/03 Rockin Hollywoods kick-off series of family-friendly entertainmentThe Forest Lake Park Board has planned a full slate of entertainment options for this summerís Arts in the Park. The series is offered 7 p.m. Tuesdays June 3-August 26 in Lakeside Memorial Park. A Friday night kick off concert featuring The Rockiní Hollywoods is scheduled for 7-10 p.m. Friday, June 13. The concert is sponsored by Target. Forest Lake Lionsí concessions will begin serving at 6 p.m. The first concert, on last week of school teenís night, (June 3) features two groups, the acappela music of Marcoux Corner and rock and roll of Echo Union. Comic Juggler Sean Emery is scheduled for June 10, as are the Dance Tech dancers. Comic magician Jerry Frasier and the Centennial Community Band are scheduled for June 17. Blues ensemble Savannah Blues will round out Juneís performances June 24. Cowboy storyteller and musician Pop Wagner hits the gazebo on July 1. Masquerís Theatre Company also is scheduled to perform July 1. Family prop comic Kenny Ahern and the Dance Tech dancers are scheduled for July 8. Variety show band Jack Tango is scheduled for July 15 and comic musician and entertainer Glen Everhart is set for July 22. A regular to the Arts in the Park series, popular family musicians are set to perform on July 29. There are two acts scheduled for National Night Out, Tuesday, August 5, with events beginning at 5 p.m. Comic ventriloquist James Wedgewood and percussion in motion CRASH. There also will be representatives from the Forest Lake Fire Department, Forest Lake Police and other family fun activities. Contemporary bluegrass duo Becky Schlegl is scheduled for August 12 and jazz trio George Mauer Trio is August 19. The annual back to school concert and free community corn feed is scheduled for 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 26. The Fresh Squeezed Country Band will provide the music and strolling balloon artist David Olson also is scheduled. This series is made possible, in part, by funds provided by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council and the River Valley Arts Council through a grant from the McKnight Foundation and an appropriation by the Minnesota Legislature. Other events in the park include the farmers market, which is open 5-8 p.m. Tuesdays July 8-Sept. 30. |
