Board meets May 27 as focus group

A special meeting of the ISD 831 Board of Education will take place from 6-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 27 to allow the school board to serve as a focus group. The board, meeting Monday night, agreed to the special meeting at the request of Superintendent Lynn Steenblock to allow the board to meet with Michael Gershowitz of Gershowitz Evaluation Services, Des Moines, IA. The consultant will be in the district May 27-28 meeting with numerous school and community groups and individuals for a focus group study to collect information about the school district. The school board will serve as one of the focus groups for the firm. Steenblock said the information is being compiled as part of a study to learn more about the districtís ability at securing numerous grants for school needs. Although there is no cost for the focus group work, Steenblock said the relationship with the firm may lead to a future contract with the company for the securing of grant dollars. Next Tuesdayís special meeting will take place at the Central Learning Center, 200 SW 4th St., the boardís spring headquarters.
