Hospital unveils sculpture

Rains ceased, clouds began to clear and tulips blossomed as the sculpture ìIn Caring Handsî was unveiled at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming on Wednesday, May 14.

Created by artist Nick Ryan of Fairview, Utah, and donated by staff, auxiliary and volunteers, the sculpture symbolizes the care, support and service that Fairview Lakes Regional Health Care provides to patients and their families.

The base of the sculpture, designed to complement the surrounding memorial garden, will eventually be encircled by FairviewÇs values of Dignity, Integrity, Service and Compassion inscribed in granite.

The varied shapes and hues of river rock on the conical base suggest strength and diversity. The bronze hands provide welcome respite, gently supporting and caring for the figures within.

The sculpture was made possible by the donations of Fairview LakesÇ employees through the annual Fairview Foundation Employee Giving Campaign and the fund-raising efforts of the Fairview Lakes Regional Auxiliary supported by the community.

Physicians, staff and board members participated in the unveiling and dedication ceremony.

Gold-plated collectorís bookmarks featuring the sculpture are available in the Auxiliary gift shop at the hospital in Wyoming with proceeds going to the Memorial Garden fund.

Later this year, a limited number of smaller bronze replicas of the sculpture will be offered for sale with proceeds going to the Memorial Garden fund.

Artist Nick Ryan lives in the mountains of Fairview, Utah.

His works are displayed in galleries in Minnesota, Colorado, Illinois, Texas, Wyoming, Utah, Montana and Idaho, at his workshop Studio in the Oaks, at art shows and expositions throughout the nation and his website www.nickryanart.com.
