Posted: 5/21/03 Broich will speak at Memorial Day program in Forest Lake on Monday
Helen Broich will be the guest speaker at next Mondayís Forest Lake Memorial Day program at Lakeside Memorial Park. Broich is a member of VFW Post 4210 Auxiliary and the current state president of the VFW Auxiliary. She hails from Wyoming Township. Mondayís 9 a.m. program is a joint venture between VFW Post 4210 and American Legion Post 225. The arrival of the colors at the park is expected at 9 a.m. In addition to Broichís keynote address, the program will include a salute to all area veterans who have passed away during the past year. At the conclusion of the Lakeside Park program, the local veterans will conduct graveside ceremonies at the following locations: ï10 a.m., Scandinavian Cemetery. ï10:30 a.m., Cedar Hills Cemetery. ï11 a.m., Calvary Cemetery. ï11:15 a.m., Oak Park Cemetery. ï11:45 a.m., Victor Hill Cemetery. Wyoming area Veterans from Peterson-Waller American Legion Post 312 in Stacy will also conduct Memorial Day services on Monday, May 26. Veterans from the Stacy Legion will visit the following cemeteries on Monday: ï9 a.m., Stacy Cemetery, Stacy. ï9:45 a.m., United Methodist Cemetery, Wyoming. ï10:15 a.m., St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wyoming. ï11 a.m., Linwood Cemetery, Linwood Township. Scandia program In Scandia, a Memorial Day tradition involving students from Scandia Elementary and members of the Lindstrom VFW Post will continue today (Thursday). A student-led program honoring the nationís war dead is planned 10 a.m. at the Elim Lutheran Church Cemetery. In the event of rain, the program will be at 10:30 a.m. at Scandia Elementary School. |
