Posted: 5/7/03 Rangers roaring up SEC standingsBerk Brown Donít look now, but with five Suburban East Conference games remaining on the schedule, the Forest Lake baseball team has gone from a dark horse to a legitimate contender for the conference championship. After something of a slow start to the conference schedule, the Rangers now find themselves in the middle of a heated battled for the conference crown. After last weekís play, which included wins over White Bear Lake and Park (Cottage Grove), the Rangers are 6-3 in conference play (and 7-3 overall) and stand just 1/2 a game back of first-place Stillwater (6-2). Forest Lake played host to Stillwater on Wednesday, May 7, but results were not available at deadline. While the Rangers are close to being in first place, so are a handful of teams. After Stillwater and Forest Lake, Park (5-3), Woodbury (4-3) and Mounds View (4-4) are still within reach of first place. Forest Lake also will take part in the New Ulm Tournament on Friday and Saturday. |
