Rangers second at Spring Lake Park

Tyler Gage posted a perfect 3-0 mark at No. 4 singles to help the Forest Lake boys tennis team take second place at the Panther Invitational in Spring Lake Park Saturday.

Hastings, a Suburban East Conference foe of the Rangers, won the team title with a score of 19. Forest Lake was second at 13 with Spring Lake Park third with 10 and Holy Angels was fourth with five.

Jeff Randall went 2-1 at No. 3 singles for the Rangers and missed a medal by a tiebreaker.
Andy Grauel went 1-2 at No. 2 singles while Alec Framke posted a 0-3 record against good competition at No. 1 singles.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Luke Odegaard and Nick Frantzen went 2-1. Forest Lakeís No. 2 doubles team of Max Conrad and Tyler Anderson, as well as the No. 3 team of Adam Ramsey and Jeff Carlson, each went 2-1. Brian Folkman and Andres Ceriz went 1-2 at No. 4 doubles.

On Thursday, May 1, Forest Lake suffered a 6-1 loss to Stillwater in an SEC match which was closer than the score indicated.

Forest Lake, which has won several matches with third-set victories this year, had the tables turned on them by the Ponies as Stillwater won all three matches which went three sets.

Conrad earned the Rangersí lone win against Stillwater with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.

ìWe didnít get the third sets like we normally do,î Forest Lake coach Greg Patchin said.

On Tuesday, April 29, Forest Lake was able to win all of the singles matches to take a 4-3 win over Woodbury.

Freshman Odegaard won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Rangers while Framke took a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.

At No. 3 singles, Conrad earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory and Gage won his match at No. 4 singles by a 6-2, 7-5 margin.

Forest Lake plays host to both Centennial (today) and Hibbing (Saturday) this week.
