Posted: 5/7/03 Narcotics arrests capped one-month probeThe arrest of a Forest Lake business owner in late April came after a one-month investigation by the Washington County Narcotics Unit, its chief inspector said this week. Sgt. Patrick Olson said county narcotics officers with assistance from Forest Lake police executed a search warrant at Forest Lake Signs, 556 S. Lake St. on April 26 as the result of information generated in the case. Two men were arrested. Carl D. Anderson, 44, of 21765 Viking Blvd., Wyoming, was taken into custody at the scene. He is the owner of Forest Lake Signs. Also arrested was Scott R. Atwater, 41, of 9469 North Shore Trail N., Forest Lake. Atwater was taken into custody on outstanding traffic warrants in Anoka and Washington counties, Olson said. He has also been charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, Olson said. Anderson was taken into custody on probable cause of possession of a controlled substance. He has been charged with three-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, Olson said. Anderson has been released from jail; Atwater remains in custody. City police reports A series of thefts filled the Forest Lake Police Department record books this week. Officers were called to the Morley Mini-Storage complex, 407 SW 15th St. on May 5 where locks to 26 storage units had been cut. As of Tuesday, police said nothing had been reported stolen. Police were also busy at Century Junior High School, 21395 Goodview Ave. N., on Monday where thefts were reported from five lockers. Police said the thefts took place in the girlís locker room where numerous items of clothing were reported stolen. City officers also received a report of a stolen business sign. Dazy Maze, 767 S. Lake St. on May 5 reported that the business sign on the south side of the store had been stolen. The sign had value of $500, police said. Police were also called to Forestland Nursery, 20001 Forest Blvd. N. on May 4 where lawn furniture, green in color, had been stolen. The stolen goods had value of $600, police said. Also on May 4, police were called to the parking lot at 1056 SW Apartment Lane for a report of vandalism and theft from a vehicle. A window to the vehicle had been broken and 20 compact discs and a CD deck with total value of $400 were reported stolen. |
