Local food shelf will get help from Culverís Nov. 24
An annual benefit by one of Forest Lakeís newest restaurants, Culverís, will benefit the Community Helping Hand food shelf. On Monday, Nov. 24, Culverís, 1007 W. Broadway Ave., will conduct its third annual ìDay of Giving.î On Nov. 24, Culverís will donate 10 percent of its days sales along with donations placed in canisters at the counters. All proceeds collected by Culverís will be donated to the Community Helping Hand for use with the local food shelf program. The food shelf at Community Helping Hand provides emergency food assistance to Forest Lake area residents. The food shelf on average provides food to 30-40 families a month and provides assistance to about 100 families at Thanksgiving. Some 100 families also receive help at Christmas. Culverís ìDay of Givingî program began after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks when local charities and families within local communities were facing financial shortfalls.
