Duck Soup production benefits St. Francis of Assisi

The Duck Soup Players and St. Francis of Assisi Animal Rescue are hosting a benefit dinner theater November 14-15 at Scandia Community Center.

Duck Soup Players, based in Scandia, will present ìThe Ghost of Shipwreck Cove,î a musical comedy geared toward the entire family.

The dinner, catered by Scandia CafÈ includes baked chicken dinner or optional vegetarian choice dinner including salad, rolls, baked potato, vegetable and dessert.

Duck Soup Players has been around since 1969, when Pat Bettendorf went with a friend to Gillette Childrenís Hospital and began entertaining the children.

Duck Soup Players became an organized group of performers which presents more than 100 shows annually to more than 12,000 individuals throughout the Twin Cities area.

Duck Soup Players are a traveling theater troupeósetting up shows wherever they have an audience whether it be hospitals, nursing homes, USO tours and next weekend, the Scandia Community Center.

In a bringing the mountain to Mohammed sort of way, the folks at Duck Soup pack up lights, sets, equipment, costumes, props, curtains and various other equipment and bring it to the people who might enjoy it most.
