Hinrichs 1 of 5 finalists for ACTE teacher honor

Steve Hinrichs, an agricultural teacher at Forest Lake High School, is in the running for a national teaching award.

The Association of Career and Technical Educators recently named Hinrichs its Region III Outstanding New Career and Technical Educator nominee.

Region III is made up of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana.

Hinrichs will now compete as one of five national finalists at the ACTE National Conference in Orlando, FL on Dec. 10-13.

Hinrichs was nominated for the national ACTE award after he won the Minnesota Association of Ag. Educators Outstanding Young Agriculture Teacher award.Ý

A philosophy of education videotape and an interview coming up on Dec. 10 in Orlando will determine the national winner, named at an awards session later that week.

ìItís fun to be recognized, but itís even more exciting for the Forest Lake High School Agriculture program, the school district, and the community,î Hinrichs said.

ìBob Marzolf, Susan Anderson, and all of the students in the classroom and FFA members have made our agriculture program a very enjoyable place to work.î

Hinrichs lives in Wyoming with his wife Amy, and daughters Samantha, and Abigail.

The ACTE includes teachers involved in: agriculture, industrial technology, family & consumer science, business education, administration, and guidance counselors.
