Posted: 10/8/03 Stolen property found in FLCity of Forest Lake police, acting in concert with other police agencies and a Lino Lakes business, have recovered two Bobcats and a trailer that had been stolen in the metro area this summer and fall. On Oct. 1, police arrested Daniel A. Valenzuela, 32, of 307 NW 3rd St. on felony charges of receiving stolen property and theft or purchase of property with removed serial numbers. Chief of Police David Schwartz and Sgt. Greg Weiss said the joint investigation recovered two stolen Bobcats and a trailer. The investigation involved police in White Bear Lake, Apple Valley, Cottage Grove and Maplewood. Key information was also provided by Tri-State Bobcat of Lino Lakes, police here said. Drug arrest A Wyoming man faces a fifth-degree controlled substance charge after his arrest in Forest Lake at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5. Police were called to investigate a report of pumpkins being smashed on streets on the southwest area of the city when they arrested Isaiah J. Filla, 18. Police found Filla and a 17-year-old Forest Lake juvenile in a parked car in the 1000 block of SW 5th. Ave. Filla has been charged with possession of controlled substance, methamphetamine. The juvenile also faces charges, police said. Other crimes In other crimes police here received reports of: ïThe theft of a $150 car stereo from a vehicle parked at Hillcrest Apartments, 1255 SW 11th Ave., overnight on Oct. 6. ïThe theft of a $3000 galvanized steel trailer on Oct. 2 from Remackel Welding, 6255 N. 210th St. ïA garage burglary in the 1100 block of SE 17th St. overnight on Oct. 1 that resulted in the theft of tools valued at $200. ïThe theft of 350 feet of copper wire piping from seven new home sites from a new subdivision on N. 207th St. overnight on Oct. 1. Fatal traffic crash A one-car crash north and east of Stacy at 4:16 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 5 claimed the life of a 19-year-old North Branch woman. According to the Chisago County Sheriffís Office, Katie Lynn Lewis was the driver of a vehicle that went off CR-18 (Lent Trail) and hit a power pole. Lewis was airlifted from Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale where she later died. A male passenger in the Lewis vehicle received minor injuries and was treated and released from the Wyoming hospital. The accident took place one-quarter mile east of Forest Blvd. |
