Basic standards hearing Oct. 20 in FL

A series of meetings led by the Minnesota Department of Education to review proposed new standards for science, history and social studies will come to Forest Lake on Monday, Oct. 20. Forest Lake High School will host the public hearing from 7-9 p.m. in the auditorium. The new standards are proposed to replace the discarded Profile of Learning that was ditched during the last legislative session. The new standards will be presented to the legislature next February. Math and reading standards were released earlier this year. In addition to Forest Lake High School, another area meeting will take place at Coon Rapids High School from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 9 in the school auditorium.
