Marine library may see improvements

The Washington County Library is continuing to explore options for utilizing the Elizabeth Jordan bequest to improve on customer service and opportunities for enhanced uses of the Marine on St. Croix branch library. A committee composed of local citizens, library board members and county staff is currently discussing a plan to invest the bequest to increase the principle and then use the interest for a variety of improvements and/or programs that will increase the services to the Marine on St. Croix branch library patrons. Elizabeth Jordanís bequest of $227,000 was made to the Marine branch library upon her death in 2000. She was an avid reader. The next public meeting will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, at City Hall in Marine on St. Croix (which is located at the rear of the library building) to present new ideas to the users of the library, to receive comments and engage in general discussion about future plans for the branch library. Local citizens are also encouraged to call the library at 651-433-2820 to offer their suggestions for increasing customer services at this branch library.
