It may not have been a fair trade on the dealerís part but three wanted men made off with a new vehicle last week and a tank of gas that came by way of theft, too.

The theft took place at Forest Lake Chrysler, 321 SW 19th St. at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25 when the three men entered the dealership driving an older model Honda and left on a test drive in a 2004 white Dodge Durango with estimated value of $35,000, Chief of Police Clark Quiring said.

Just minutes later, the three men filled the Durangoís gas tank at Holiday, 1208 W. Broadway Ave., and left without paying the $41.84 bill.

After four days of using the new vehicle, it has now been recovered. Quiring said Minneapolis police recovered the Durango on Monday. The driver fled on foot and escaped after a brief chase, the chief said.
