An event to benefit the Chad and Amy Brenny family of Forest Lake is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 18. The Brennyís lost their son, Severin Grant in July due to complication of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Affecting about 1000 babies born in the United States each year, HLHS babies are born with hearts in which the left side does not develop properly.
When he was 9-days-old, Severin had his first surgery. A second surgery followedóand a third in May, 2004. The Brennys got care for their son at the University of Michigan. It was the best place they found to care for their son. While they had to incur expenses traveling to Michigan, their sonís life was at stake.
After more than 50 days of fighting infections, ups and downs, Severin died at 22 months.
The benefit is an effort to honor the family and help cover expenses incurred by the family.

The rest of the dayís events are noon-5 p.m. at Ham Lake Lanes and Lounge, 16465 NE Highway 65, Ham Lake.
A silent auction, pull tabs and raffle tickets run all day, a beer bust is scheduled for noon-2 p.m. with a 9 pin no-tap tournament 2-4 p.m. and a live auction is scheduled for 4-5 p.m. The drawing for raffle tickets is set for 5 p.m.
