Tennis team improves to 4-0

Three victories last week helped the Forest Lake High School girls tennis team improve their season record to 4-0.

In the three matches this past week, the four Rangers singles players, Paige Patchin, Katie Anderson, Hilary Framke and Steph Englund, went undefeated.

In the opening match against Coon Rapids last Tuesday the Rangers singles players won all their matches in two sets. The doubles teams didnít have much trouble beating Coon Rapids as only one match went three sets in the Rangers 7-0 victory.

ěThis was a first time win over Coon Rapids for the girls,î Rangers head coach Greg Patchin said. ěIt was also nice to see Katie Anderson play well.î

In Thursdayís matchup against Anoka the power of the Rangers singles players helped the Rangers win 4-3.
The doubles tandem of Maddy Raasch and Quinne Patchin almost pulled out a victory as they went 7-6, 4-6, 2-6 in their match. Framke was the dominant singles player with a 6-1, 6-0 straight set victory.

ěIt was an excellent match,î Patchin said. ěThe girls battled hard for this victory.î

The Rangers ended a full week of play with a 7-0 route of North Branch Friday. Anderson and Englund both won their matches 6-0, 6-0 while Framke won hers 6-6, 6-1 and Patchin hers 6-2, 6-3.

In doubles play the tandem of Alexa Nelson and Jenny Coozenooy won 6-3, 6-1, Liz Klein and Chelsea Sager won 6-1, 6-2, Quinne Patchin and Raasch 6-1, 6-1 and Framke and Cathie Fuith won 6-0, 6-1.
ěThis was an easy win for the team,î Patchin said.

The Rangers next test was against powerhouse Mounds View Tuesday afternoon. Their next match is today, Thursday against White Bear Lake at home at 4 p.m.
