Man arrested after cars hit on US-61

A Forest Lake man was arrested on drunk driving charges and leaving the scene of an accident on US-61 here last Friday.

Danny D. Killpack, 32, of 23855 Forest Blvd., was arrested by Forest Lake police and charged with gross misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police were called after witness observed a red van sideswipe two vehicles parked in the 100 block on the west side of US-61 (S. Lake St.) at 2:20 p.m. Friday. Police later located the van driving by Killpack as it traveled north on US-61 near the Hitching Post Motel.

Forest Lake police said the two vehicles owned by men from Moose Lake and Forest Lake received combined damage in excess of $3500.

3 arrested

Police here took three individuals into custody after a special unit foot patrol on duty in the 600 block of SW 12th St. on April 8 observed a vehicle that had been listed as stolen.

At 12:03 a.m., police stopped the Chevrolet Cavalier at the Holiday Station, 1208 W. Broadway. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Hastings.

Taken into custody and charged were:

ïAnna M. Burke, 24, of Cottage Grove, the driver of the vehicle, possession of stolen property and driving after suspension.

ïDouglas F. Ganhofer, 36, St. Paul, a passenger in the car, fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

ïPenny Lee Baker, 35, a passenger in the car, tampering with a motor vehicle.

The foot patrol is a special detail this month used in areas where car vandalism incidents have been common, police said.

In other reports, police:

ïAssisted the Minnesota State Patrol at 2:34 a.m. on April 8 in an attempt to locate a vehicle traveling in the south in the northbound lane of I-35. The vehicle eventually collided with a northbound vehicle in Lino Lakes at CR-23 and I-35W claiming one life.

ïInvestigating the theft of a video surveillance camera from a pole on the grounds of Forest Lake Mini Storage, 407 SW 15th St. overnight on April 12. Police said someone climbed over the security fence and climbed the pole to steal the camera valued at $250.
