Police will offer tips on bad checks
The Forest Lake Police Department and the Retailers Protection Association have implemented a criminal worthless check division program to help recover full restitution from individuals issuing worthless checks for goods and services to Forest Lake businesses and individuals. Chief of Police Clark Quiring said the department has helped develop this program in response to the concerns of businesses and community leaders. An informational meeting is planned 4-5 p.m., Thursday, May 15 in the council chambers at Forest Lake City Hall, 220 N. Lake St. ěThis program offers businesses a no cost opportunity to recover losses from individuals who write worthless checks,î the chief said. Program booklets are available at the Forest Lake Police Department 210 N. Lake St. or can be found online at www.theftreporting.com by clicking on merchant booklet and scrolling down to Forest Lake.
