Fiery crash on TH-97 at I-35 sends 2 to hospital

Authorities in Anoka County and Forest Lake are investigating a fiery two-car crash on TH-97 (CR-23) at I-35 Friday morning that sent two people to the hospital. The crash took place shortly after 7:30 a.m. on the west side of the TH-97 bridge at I-35, said Forest Lake Fire Chief Gary Sigfrinius. Forest Lake Fire & Rescue was called after this car became fully evolved in flames. Sigfrinius said a passer by pulled an infant from a car seat in the back seat of the vehicle pictured here. The child was not injured thanks to the efforts of the citizen, the chief said. A second vehicle involved in the crash ended up at the bottom of the bridge embankment on the southeast side of the ramp to southbound I-35. The Minnesota State Patrol was also on the scene.
