A public forum for parents and community members interested in learning more about kids and drugs will take place 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 19 in the auditorium at Forest Lake High School. The community meeting will be led by the ISD 831 Chemical Task Force and is in partnership with the Forest Lake Times as a follow-up session from the newspaperís five-week series: ìKids & Drugs.î The series concluded Thursday, April 1.
Joe Grafft, task force chair and vice president of the ISD 831 School Board, hopes the April 19th session will be well attended.
The session is the latest attempt by the task force to more heavily involve parents and the community in the battle against drugs. This will be the third such forum sponsored by the Chemical Task Force, Grafft said. The task force formed two ago years as an educational vehicle to help the public understand what drugs were in the community, Grafft said.
The school board member said by dovetailing on the newspaperís series on drug use, community awareness may be heightened and this forum will be well attended.
ìThe Forest Lake Times and the ISD 831 School Board would like to encourage youth, parents and community to become involved in this educational opportunity,î Grafft said.
Final speakers for the panel have yet to be set, but Grafft said the panel will include community, county and other experts for a discussion of the issue with parents, youth, elected officials and other community members.
