School hires communication person
Carissa Fredrickson has assumed duties as communications coordinator for ISD 831. Fredrickson, who joined the district Aug. 9, comes from the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District where she was a communications specialist. She has also spent time as an education reporter working for the South Washington County and Woodbury Bulletin Newspapers. Fredrickson studied broadcast journalism and sociology and received a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. ìIn many ways the school district is the heart of the community,î Fredrickson said. ìThere is so much good news to be told! I am anxious to share the accomplishments of our students and staff with our residents.î She has been retained on a 12-month contract that pays her $47,000 a year plus standard benefits. The in-district employee is a replacement for the Agenzia public relations firm previously retained by the district. The companyís contract was not renewed this year.
