County receives demonstration grant

Washington County has been selected to receive a grant from National Center for Civic Innovation. The county board Aug. 3 authorized acceptance of a two-year, $30,000 demonstration grant from the National Center for Civic Innovation. This grant will be used to secure citizen participation in improving the countyís existing performance measurement activities. Washington County has been collecting performance data in all of its departments since the mid-1990s. Performance measurement provides the county with information to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness to its customers. They are reported in two annual reports: The budget performance measures report and the Washington County Annual Performance Report. The county is one of 30 governments to be awarded the grant.
