Vollmer will speak at FLHS Aug. 30

Remember the good old days of public education? The days of your childhood when things were simple and teachers focused on the basics? If you do, then you may suffer from nostesia ó a combination of nostalgia and amnesia and Jamie Vollmer has the cure for you. The public is invited to hear Vollmer from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 30 at Forest Lake High School. The former attorney and businessman, who was a harsh critic of public education for many years, will share his ideas and explain the events that turned him into a strong advocate for schools. Heíll also explain his concept of nostesia, and show evidence supporting his belief that most schools are better at educating students now than they have ever been.
