A worldís record could well be owned by Forest Lake if a promotion by local bar and restaurant owner Peter Paidar comes off as planned Saturday, Aug. 28.

Paidar, owner of the Forest Laker, 131 N. Lake St. hopes to achieve a spot in the Guinness Book of Records by forming the largest pontoon boat tie-in. The event is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

And there is good reason for Paidarís optimism that the record can be achieved.

ìThere is none,î he says of the Guinness recordings of pontoon boat tie-ins. He has applied for status to the record-holding agency.

ìIf they give us status, weíll get it,î he says of the Guinness worldís record.

During the four-hour time span on Aug. 28, Paidar is inviting all pontoon owners to meet on First Lake near the Lakeside Memorial Park boat launch to form the chain.

Boat owners are encouraged to decorate their boats in patriotic themes and compete for prizes, Paidar says.

The best decorated pontoon on Aug. 28 will receive a $100 first-place prize. Second place is $50.

The first 50 boats to join the chain will receive Forest Laker T-shirts. There is no cost to take part in the chain.

Paidar says this first-ever pontoon event is his attempt at making an annual lake event in Forest Lake. He hopes to involve the Forest Lake Park Board in the future as a partner in the community activity.

At the conclusion of the four-hour pontoon event, all participants are invited to the Forest Laker for a social hour starting at 3 p.m.

Paidar will cap the day with a rib fest and live entertainment from 4-8 p.m. on the Forest Laker patio.

In the event of rain on Aug. 28, the back-up day for the event is Sunday, Aug. 29 with times remaining the same.
