CareWise Health Fair 2004 is Aug. 18

In an attempt to increase attendance and participation, a mid-week date has been selected for this yearís third annual CareWise Health Fair 2004.

ìChoice for Independenceî is the theme for this yearís senior citizen health fair planned for Wednesday, Aug. 18. The Forest Lake Community Senior Center, 767 SW 4th St., will host the health fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The three-hour event is free and will offer many information booths, a prize wheel and free food. The goal of the health fair, event planners said, is to provide resources for senior citizens and their families.

Information on hearing and optical services, blood pressure and sugar testing, chiropractic services, nutrition, diabetes education will be among the free services offered during the health fair.

A special event during the fair will be a demonstration by the Washington County Sheriffís Office Canine Unit. The inside demonstration is set for 12:30 p.m.

CareWise Health Fair 2004 is jointly sponsored by Community Education of Forest Lake Area Schools, the Forest Lake Senior Center, Elder Haven LLC and the Columbus Senior Center.

For its first two years, the senior health fair has taken place on a weekend day but was moved to Wednesday this year with the goal of increasing senior participation.
