Call them reports of the strange and unusual.
A pair of reports to the Forest Lake Police Department this week were categorized as such by officers.
On Saturday afternoon, police received a call for assistance that was logged in the category of strange.
Kole Adam Wulf, 21, 907 SW 8th St., came to the police department at 5:21 p.m. with a problem.
The problem for the Forest Lake man was a two-foot long baby python snake that was stuck in an earring that the man was wearing.
A police report said the snake had become lodged in the earring. A police officer was able to slide the snake out with no injury to the python or the complainant.
In the unusual department, Chief of Police Clark Quiring said he recently received a $350 donation from a Spring Valley man who was recently ticketed for speeding in Forest Lake.
In a letter to the chief, the man said he was stopped for speeding on Dec. 4 while driving through Forest Lake. The man said he was impressed by the professionalism but firmness of patrol officer Luke Hanegraaf who made the traffic stop.
Perhaps in the spirit of the season, the man sent a check for $350 to the police department in thanks for the performance of the officer. He suggested the money be used for a local food shelf or a Christmas toy program for area kids in need.
Quiring said the final decision on how the money will be donated will be left with officer Hanegraaf.
The Spring Valley man said he was impressed with the officerís performance. He said he has a son who was enrolled in the law enforcement program at Alexandria Technical College.
