The Forest Lake High School girls hockey team is still searching for its first victory of the season after a 2-2 tie with Minnetonka and 3-2 loss to Lakeville this week.

Last Thursday the Rangers hosted Minnetonka and took the lead on an Anna Johnson goal. Two minutes later Minnetonka tied the game when Michelle Carter slipped the puck past Rangers goalie Kim Fredrick.

Minnetonka took the lead just under three minutes into the third period, but the Rangers would not stay down. Keeta Koalska took a pass from Miranda Nelson at the 13:10 mark of the second period and scored to tie the game.

Both teams battled back and forth, exchanging shot after shot in the third period but neither team scored, forcing an overtime period. In the extra period of play both teams were held scoreless and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. The Rangers outshot Minnetonka in the game 32-29 and Fredrick stopped 27 shots.

The Rangers hoped to better their luck when Lakeville came to town and things looked good after Johnson again gave the Rangers an early lead with the only goal in the first period despite being outshot 11-3. The Rangers were outshot again in the second period 15-2. One of Lakevilleís 15 second period shots did find its way to the back of the net to tie the game.

Midway through the third period Lakeville took a 2-1 lead, but 16 seconds later Keeta Koalska tied the game off a feed from Stephanie Haider.

Lakeville took the lead for good late in the third period when Corrie Weikle scored the game winner.
Casie Carpenter stopped 33 of Lakevilleís shots in the Rangers 3-2 loss.

The Rangers next game is Saturday at the Maroon and Gold Arena against Stillwater at 7:30 p.m.
