Sports EditorItís hard to win a basketball game when you donít score in the second quarter. The Forest Lake High School girls basketball team learned that lesson Friday night when they lost to Roseville 46-26.
The Rangers were giving Roseville a fight in the first quarter as the score was 11-8. In the second quarter though, the Roseville defense was too much for the Rangers as they were outscored 9-0.
The Rangers showed some signs of life as they put some points up on the scoreboard in the third quarter, but Roseville had some life of their own, outscoring the Rangers 14-8.
Down 33-16 going into the fourth quarter, the Rangers had to get something going if they wanted to have a chance at winning the game. The Rangers managed to score ten points, but that wasnít enough as Roseville scored 12 more points to finish off their 46-26 victory.
Renee Frericks and Christina Odegard led the Rangers in scoring with eight points apiece. Krista Skoglund also scored six points.
The Rangers next game is Friday when they host Park (Cottage Grove) at 7:30 p.m.
