Disappointing. Thatís the way Forest Lake gymnastics coach Nancy Ellias described Thursdayís meet against White Bear Lake.

ìI really thought we could stick pretty close to White Bear Lake and that if we had hit every routine we could even possibly win,î Ellias said. ìBut my optimism wasnít as realistic as I imagined.î

Despite the high hopes, the Rangers still had a decent meet, unfortunately White Bear Lake was the 144.375-137.525 winner.

Chrissie Pierce finished third on the floor with a score of 9.175, while Brianna Hubbard finished third on the vault (9.05) and third in the all-around competition with a score of 34.925. Rachel Turry finished third on the bars with a score of 9.075.

ìThey executed skills well and upgraded their difficulty,î Ellias said. ìUnfortunately the routines that were improved and better did not show that improvement in the score.î

Other gymnasts that had a good meet were Ashley Morris, Stephanie Sampair, and Jamie Essen.

ìWe have a distinctive ëproblemí of having six excellent gymnasts for five positions,î Ellias said. ìQuite a dilemma.î

The Rangers next meet is the section 4AA meet at North St. Paul on Feb. 21.
