Otto takes part in college program

District 52B Rep. Rebecca Otto, DFL Marine on St. Croix, fielded questions from nearly 300 high school students recently as part of the University of Minnesota College in the Schools program. Each year high school students gather to participate in this University of Minnesota program to discuss and debate major issues facing state, national and world leaders. Otto was invited to attend and address the group as the featured state elected official. ìIt was an honor to have the chance to participate in this program. I was amazed at how articulate and concerned these students were.î said Otto, a former teacher in Mounds View. College in the Schools is a partnership program between the University of Minnesota and area high schools that delivers regular University courses to advanced high school students. Students that successfully complete a CIS course receive regular U of M transferable credits.
