CLC evacuated last week when sprinkler breaks
A sprinkler break at the Central Learning Center, 200 SW 4th St. late in the day Wednesday, Jan. 28 led to the evacuation of the building and cancellation of evening Early Childhood Family Education programs. The break took place in the northwest corner of the Family Center and resulted in minor damage in the infants room, said Dan Poepard, director of community education. Evening ECFE classes were called off because of the water damage. The broken line was repaired and classes took place as usual Thursday. ìThe good news is that the CLC custodians did a great job containing the water damage, and Greg Wood (supervisor of buildings and grounds) brought in a special cleaning and disinfecting company last evening, so things look pretty good today,î Poepard said in a memo last Thursday. CLC staff remained on duty late in the day Wednesday calling families so parents with young children were aware of the ECFE cancellation and would not be heading out on a cold night, Poepard said.
