ECM Publishers, KFAN partner in high school sports venture
ECM Publishers, Inc, publisher of 17 community weekly newspapers from Caledonia in the south to Milaca in the north, and KFAN Sports Radio AM 1130, have partnered in a sports coverage venture to expand readership and audience. The two organizations are teaming to provide a Saturday morning high school sports update for the schools covered by ECM newspapers. The updates will be accomplished in four two-minute segments aired between 8 a.m. and noon each Saturday. The program debuts Saturday, Feb. 7. Listeners to KFAN will be referred to a co-branded Website called sportsprepzone.com. This website will highlight sports news of the week and will provide links to ECM newspapers providing further sports coverage. ECMís newspapers provide coverage for 24 schools in eight conferences. Conferences include: Northwest Suburban, Missota, North Suburban, Suburban East, Lake, Rum River, Great River and MCAA. Newspapers in ECM include: Anoka County Union, Blaine-Spring Lake Park Life, Coon Rapids Herald, Elk River Star News, Princeton Union-eagle, Mille Lacs County Times, Isanti County News, ECM Post Review, Forest Lake Times, Thisweek Apple Valley, Thisweek Burnsville, Thisweek Eagan, Thisweek Rosemount, Thisweek Life & Times Farmington, Dakota County Tribune and the Caledonia Argus. ěThis is an exciting endeavor with the end result being more access to sports coverage in a wide area via the joining of hands by ECM and KFAN,î said Julian Andersen, publisher of ECM newspapers.
