It was another tough week for the Forest Lake High School girls hockey team as they dropped three games.
The week started with a 4-1 loss to Mounds View last Tuesday. Mounds View scored two goals in the first period, but the Rangers battled back as both teams scored goals of their own in the second period. Keeta Kowalska was the goal scorer for the Rangers. Mounds View added one more goal in the third period.

ìThe girls played a really good game in the 1st and 3rd periods particularly,î Rangers head coach Sawn Everson said. ìIn the second we had some breakdowns, but we came back in the third period.î

The Rangers traveled to Coon Rapids Thursday. Coon Rapids scored two goals in the first period to take the lead. Again, the Rangers exchanged goals in the second period, but Coon Rapids scored two more in the third to win the game 5-1. Anna Johnson was the goal scorer for the Rangers.

ìWe didnít get off to a very good start against Coon Rapids,î Everson said. ìAgain break downs hurt us, but we played a little bit better second and third period.î

Closing out the weekís play, the Rangers faced White Bear Lake. In their first meeting of the season, White Bear Lake beat the Rangers 6-0. This time around White Bear Lake still came out on top, but the score was a much closer 3-2.

ìWe showed improvement the second time around,î Everson said. ìThatís the way the whole season has gone. Weíve seen improvement as a team as well as individuals.î

Kowalaska and Katie Lewis were the goal scorers for the Rangers.

With Kowalska second on the team in goals with six goals, there is no one goal scorer on the Rangers.

ìOur goal scoring is spread out,î Everson said. ìIt can be anyone on the ice, but weíre still not scoring a lot of goals and itís hard to win a game when you only score one goal.î

The Rangers next game is Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Maroon and Gold Arena against Woodbury.
