The Rangers relied on their depth once again when they traveled to Hastings Thursday. Hastings took first place in nine of the 12 events, but the Rangers still prevailed with a 98-88 victory.
A two-three finish in the 200-yard freestyle by Sam Gort and Mark Anderson, and another two-three finish in the individual medley by Andy Knaak and Scott Schulze kept the Rangers within striking distance of Hastings.
The diving team swept the diving portion of the meet for the third meet in a row, giving the Rangers a four point lead.
A two-three finish by Schulze and Jake Morrison in the butterfly, and a two-three-four finish by Jeff Sandager, Chris Duff, and Jake Waske in the 100-yard freestyle helped give the Rangers a 66-60 lead.
Going into the final event, the 400-yard free style relay, the Rangers needed to finish in second place to win the meet.
The relay team of Gort, Knaak, Waske, and Duff decided to finish first instead for the victory.
