It was a busy week for the Forest Lake High School boys swimming team. The week started out Tuesday with a sweep of Andover, then a close meet against Mounds View on Thursday, and ended with a fourth place finish Saturday at the ABC Invitational at Blaine.

The Rangers swept all 12 events when they traveled to Andover. First place finishers were Andy Knaak in the 100-yard breaststroke and butterfly, Sam Gort in the 500-yard freestyle, Mark Anderson in the 200-yard freestyle, Scott Schulze in the 200-yard individual medley, Mark Sandager in the backstroke, Jacob Waskey in the 100-yard freestyle, Chris Duff in the 50-yard freestyle, and Brian Welch in diving.

Thursdayís home meet against Mounds View was a bit tougher though.

Mounds View jumped out to an early 8-6 lead, but Gortís first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle gave the Rangers the lead. Mounds View retook the lead after the 50-yard freestyle as they finished one, two, three. The Rangers bounced back with a two, three, four finish by Welch, Sam Chaussee, and Dylan Hudella in diving to pull back into the lead.

Eighth grader Andy Knaakís first place finish in the butterfly helped the Rangers hold on to the lead until Mounds View swept the top three spots in the 100-yard freestyle. Going into the final event, the Rangers needed a one, two finish to win the meet. Unfortunately the 400-yard freestyle relay teams finished first and third, losing the meet 94-92.

At the ABC Invite in Blaine on Saturday the Rangers finished fourth out of 12 teams. Chaussee finished second in the 11-dive diving competition with a score of 334.55. Knaak finished third in the 500-yard freestyle race, and Mark Sandager fourth in the 100-yard backstroke.

Other finishes included Mark Andersonís fifth place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, Knaakís fifth place finish in the 100-yard breast stroke, and Gortís seventh place finish in the 200-yard freestyle race.
The Rangers next meet is Saturday at the Chisago Lake Invite.
