School may change meeting dates

The ISD 831 School Board is studying a possible change in its monthly meeting dates. At its organizational meeting for 2004 on Jan. 5, board member Dean Barr raised the question. The board for many years has conducted meetings on the first and third Monday of the month. The third Monday meeting is now devoted to board committee sessions. New board member Keith Dunham has a conflict with the third Monday meeting related to a military obligation in Duluth. Barr said the Monday meetings often conflicted with teacher conferences and school concerts. After hearing the conflicts, the board agreed to review the matter for a possible change. One possibility is moving the meetings to Thursday night or using the fourth Monday of the month for its committee sessions. Because Dunham is free of military obligations in February, the current schedule will remain in place next month.
