YSB youth build log furniture

The Forest Lake Area Youth Service Bureau has given youth the opportunity to learn a skill working with their hands and give back to the community at the same time.

Last summer, community service youth built log furniture. With bark piled up around their feet as they worked, youth shaped the ends of logs just like the early settlers used to.

They learned how to shape tenons to fit snuggly into holes and how to construct a bench to be sturdy and practical.

With sales from the log furniture going directly to support the mission of Youth Service Bureau and the ìShop Nightî program, youth are helping to make our community a better place. Community members can stop by the Bureau at any time to see what items are available for sale.

Current items available include: one end table, three large sitting benches, one queen size headboard and footboard, and one full size bed set. Individuals who donít find anything they like can talk to Matt Howard about special ordering an item to be made this summer. Stop in and talk to or call Matt at 464-3685 for more information.

The Youth Service Bureau is a non-profit organization serving all of Chisago County and the Forest Lake Area of Washington County including portions of Anoka and Isanti counties. Our mission is to ensure the success of youth by providing programs and services which reflect our belief that youth will be successful when relationships are strong, families are involved and supportive, communities are caring, harmony is restored and youth have the skills and opportunities for citizenship.
