Wyoming Township ReporterAppointments were made for representatives to meet with Chisago City on the hostile annexation of 11,103 acres of Wyoming Township into Chisago City.
Town board Supervisors Roger Elmore, Larry Parker andİalternate Ron Swenson will represent the township along withİits legalİcouncil.
The appointments were made by the town board during its meeting Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The date of this meeting with Chisago City officials will be determined later.
The town board and special legal representative will conduct a formal meeting at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23, 2004 at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church, 24799 Forest Blvd. (US-61) to update the township residents about the process and to gather citizen opinions about how to proceed.
The law firm of Couri & MacArthur was hired as special counsel to assist the township attorney in representing Wyoming Township in the annexation matter.
Lakes Area TV (Channel 10), the public cable access channel in the Forest Lake area, will be broadcasting this special event and re-airing it periodically.
District 17B State Rep. Peter Nelsonİfrom Lindstrom andİDistrict 17 State Sen. Sean R. Nienow from Cambridge,İwill be attending and speaking at this special meeting.
In addition, a representative from Gov. Pawlentyís office will be present, town board officials said last week.
Larry Parker said last week it was important in collecting citizen input regarding the hostile annexation bid by Wyoming Townshipís neighbor to the east.
ìWe want the citizens of Wyoming Township to express their concerns and to contest the annexation,î Parker said.İİ
