The 15 team Minnesota Girls Gymnastics Officials Association Invitational in Roseville didnít quite go as well as Forest Lake head coach Nancy Ellias said.

ìWe had set as a goal to be in the top four,î Ellias said. ìHad we scored like we did in our meet against Lakeville or Cambridge we would have been right there.î

The Rangers finished eighth at the meet with 133.025 points. With 75 competitors in every event, there was little room for error, but the Rangers simply couldnít get things going.

Brights spots for the Rangers included Brianna Hubbardís fourth place finish on the vault, followed by Chrissie Pierceís eighth place finish in the same event.

ìWe had a very poor start on the bars and unfortunately that set the tone for most of our bars,î Ellias said. ìOur third event, the vault was our best event as we scored a season high 36 on it which is great.î

Despite the troubles on the bars, Rachel Turry managed to finish eighth on the bars with a score of 8.9.
As the team moved to the beam, things did not look so good as they had five falls. Hubbard was the top finisher in 20th place and a score of 8.475.

ìThe girls did not compete as well as their warm-ups went or as well as the practices last week went,î Ellias said. ìSometimes the mental aspect becomes a huge part of success in a long meet like this and with so many teams there is a lot of down time. Every team has to figure out a way to deal with that though.î

The Rangers next meet is today, Thursday, at home against Mounds View. The meet starts at 6:30 p.m.
