Rob Rapheal files in Dist. 52A
Scandia resident Rob Rapheal, a member of the ISD 831 Board of Education, has now made official his announced plan to run for the Minnesota House of Representatives from District 52A. Rapheal was the first and only candidate to file in the race, according to the Minnesota Secretary of Stateís office as of this Monday. He will challenge incumbent Republican Rep. Ray Vandeveer of Forest Lake for the 52A two-year term. Rapheal hopes to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor on the school board, Rebecca Otto. Otto won a special election contest to the Minnesota House from District 52B last year after serving on the school board. She will face Matt Dean in the Nov. 2 election. Rapheal was appointed to the school board to fill Ottoís seat in the spring of 2003 and won election to a four-year school board term last November.
