Itís a simple warning but one that needs to be given every now and then, Chief of Police Clark Quiring says. Donít leave valuables in vehicles and boats at any time, the chief said week.

Quiring issues his reminder after another round of theft reports from city residents.

On July 11, a resident in the 100 block of South Shore Drive reported the theft of $700 in fishing gear from a boat.

Earlier, the chief said, a city resident reported the theft of a palm pilot and billfold from a vehicle parked in the driveway.

ìDonít leave valuables in plain site in vehicles, or in boats overnight,î the chief said. Quiring said such carelessness is an invitation to trouble.
