School levy session at 6 p.m. Thursday

Members of the ISD 831 School Board will partake in another round of operating levy discussion during a special school board meeting tonight (Thursday) at the District Office Building, 6100 N. 210th St. At 6 p.m. the board will meet to discuss an administrative recommendation to go out for another excess operating levy on Nov. 2. The levy would be used to provide operating dollars to head off the possible cut of another $2 million in staff and programs for the school district in the 2005-2006 school year. The school board has already taken steps to reduce its general fund budget by some $2 million for the 2004-2005 school year that began July 1. The district has eliminated 20 teaching positions as a result of that cost-cutting move.
