Sports EditorJosh Hansen struck out thirteen Isle batters enroute to a 17-2, no hitter Forest Lake Brews victory Saturday.
Isle got on the scoreboard in the first inning when the leadoff batter was hit by a pitch. The runner then stole second, but the catchers throw bounced off the base, allowing the runner to third base. The third batter of the inning reached base on a walk.
The Isle runner on first base stole second, and as Brewers catcher Paul Miron threw the ball to second base, the runner on third broke for home and scored. The Isle runner on second later stole third base then scored on a sacrifice fly.
The Brewers got on the score board first in the third inning when they scored three runs to take a lead they would never relinquish. The Brewers broke out for seven more runs in the fourth inning. The Brewers added four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth inning.
Alex Johnson was the big hitter for the Brewers going 3-5 at the plate, but Tyler Endquist and Aaron Galleberg both had three runs batted in a piece. The Brewers combined for 11 walks and five stolen bases.
The day before the Isle game, the Brewers played a tough Chisago team and came out on top 7-0 to avenge an early season 1-0 loss.
The Brewers scored two in the first inning, then added four more in the second inning. One last run in the sixth inning was all the Brewers needed. Chris Parent pitched the complete game shut-out giving up five hits while striking out nine.
The Brewers luck ran out Sunday as Hinckley defeated them Sunday night 4-2.
The Brewers next game is Saturday at Isanti at 7:30 p.m.
