Staff WriterWhen Forest Lake residents go to the polls November 5, they may not be casting a vote on the proposed community center.
Instead, voters may be presented with a community center referendum vote in March or Aprilóif at all, said City Administrator Chip Robinson.
That announcement came at Monday evening workshop between the Forest Lake City Council and the Economic Development Authority.
The change is due to the city trying to secure a multi-million dollar Kroc grant. Kroc, the founder of McDonaldís Restaurants left $1.5 billion to the Salvation Army to build community centers throughout the country.
The grant could be worth $10-$30 million. City officials say the city should know whether or not funds are available through the Kroc grant by September.
ìThe time frame appears weíre going to have to move it to next year,î Robinson said.
Representatives of the Kroc grant will be visiting the proposed site for the community center before making their decision.
