Board OKís academic audit

The ISD 831 School Board has approved a plan to complete an academic audit process. The board voted 6-0 Thursday, July 1 to spend $15,000 for a contract with the School Management Study Group to conduct the educational audit. Superintendent Lynn Steenblock recommended the move. The audit is a way to analyze the effectiveness of the district and develop improvement plans. Management Study Group will complete its work over three to six weeks. Steenblock said past audits in other districts have proven effective in helping districts improve academic achievement, student and staff attendance, success on advanced placement exams and SAT and ACT results, and grade point averages. The study will include a review of school policies, an examination and analysis of data, interviews with school leaders, observations of schools and a determination of school system effectiveness.
