History of Hugo

During Good Neighbor Days, the Hugo Historical Commission will have a Hugo timeline display in the Oneka Room at city hall, a display showing the streets of Hugo circa 1930 and a few new displays, namely a display on how Polio affected Hugo and a display on the St. Johnís cemetery.

The Oneka Room will be open to view these displays on Saturday, June 12 and Sunday, June 13. Hours will be noon to 5 p.m.

This year the commission will be selling a commemorative mug featuring a painting of the Hugo Feed Mill that was done by local artist Len Shimota. His two paintings (the other is of the Hopkins schoolhouse) are on display at city hall.

The collectible mugs are $8 but are in limited quantity. The plan is to feature a different Hugo scene or building each year.
