A fifth place finish at the Grand National Golf Course in Hinckley in the Section 7AA tournament meant the end of the season for the Forest Lake High School girls golf team.

Rachel Martin and Ashley Weeda both finished with a score of 99. Sara Berger shot a 100 and Jenna Lee a 103. Of the four Rangers golfers, none of them qualified for the second day of the tournament. The team score of 401 was good for fifth place out of 13 teams.

ìThe girls made personal improvements over the course of the season,î Rangers head coach Bill Loushine said. ìThere is always the future though. We only have one senior in Rachel Martin and she will be sorely missed, but weíve got some new girls weíre working on to join us next season.î

Loushine said he watched the golfers stay focused and work hard to improve over the course of the season.

ìWatching personal gains was the biggest thing to watch this season as the girls moved out of the 50s and into the 40s,î Loushine said. ìThatís a ,ilestone and once you get there you want to keep competing at that level.î
