Itís still not too late to get a team in the second Forest lake Invitation on Friday, June 18th.
Thatís the date for the second golf benefit for the Youth Service Bureau of Forest Lake. Castlewood Golf Course will host the tourney from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Coordinator Jim Trudeau, Forest Lakeís retired police chief and county sheriff, hopes the nine-hole tourney will attract 40 teams this year.
Entry fee is $260 for each four-person team. The entry includes nine holes of golf, two power carts, tee prizes and an outdoor pig roast served from 3-6 p.m. on June 18.
Dinner only tickets are available at $20 per person. Food for the event will be prepared and served by Dan Heitala of Heitalaís Old World Meat Market and Ron Vannelli.
This yearís YSB invite will include two divisions, championship and senior division for teams with golfers 55 and over. A first place cash prize of $400 will be awarded to the top team in both divisions.
The golf format is a four-person scramble with handicap restrictions.
Golfers will also compete in a hole-in-one contest and three $50 on course events. Raffles with many great prizes will also be up for grabs June 18th.
Trudeau, a key founder of the YSB in the 1970s, organized the first golf fund-raiser a year ago to help generate funds cut from bureau funding. The same needs exist today, he says, and the bureau continues to perform a valuable function in the Forest Lake area.
Public can help
How can the public help?
One way, Trudeau says, is to form a team and play in the tourney or simply plan to come out for dinner.
Trudeau continues to recruit hole sponsors and corporate sponsors for the tournament.
Corporate sponsorships at $500 each remain. Mainstreet Bank of Forest Lake signed on as the first corporate sponsor, Trudeau said.
Hole sponsorships at $50 each are available.

All proceeds from the June 18 golf outing will benefit the Youth Service Bureau.
