Wrong way driver on I-35 goes to jail

A St. Croix Falls, WI woman who was driving the wrong way on I-35 last week received a free ride to jail courtesy of Forest Lake police

Police responded to three reports of a vehicle driving northbound in the southbound of I-35 at 3 a.m., Friday, March 5. One of the reports from the public said the vehicle made a left turn to the I-35 Rest Area.

At the Rest Area, city officers took the 24-year-old woman into custody. She was taken to jail and booked on fourth-degree driving while intoxicated.

Police Chief Clark Quiring said authorities were uncertain how far the woman had been driving the wrong way on I-35.

Other reports

In other police reports, Shane A. Sperr, 21, of Chisago City, was arrested on probable cause of second-degree assault after an incident near Wal-Mart, 200 SW 12th St. at 1 a.m. Monday morning.

A Wyoming man, 19, told police, Sperr threatened him with a baseball bat. Police responding to the call located the subject on foot at 407 SW 11th Ave. He was arrested without incident and his vehicle was later found at 1007 SW 11th Ave.

He was booked and held at the county jail in Stillwater.

Also on Monday, a Forest Lake man has his prize comic book collection back after it was reported stolen from his home in the 1000 block of SE 6th St. The homeowner reported the burglary at 7:49 p.m.

Officers responding to the scene found the comic books inside a box two doors north of the residence. The comics had value of $3000, police said.

A burglary on March 4 in the 21000 block of Inwood Ave. N. resulted in the theft of a snowboard. The homeowner reported that someone entered an unlocked walkout basement door and took the snowboard.
